What the nawal is

The Tzolk'in is the 260-day count of the Maya calendar: 13 tones turning together with 20 nawales, until each combination comes back. Every day has a name, like 4 Ajpu or 9 Kej.

The day you were born is your nawal — what many call your Mayan zodiac sign. In the Guatemalan highlands this count never stopped: the spiritual guides, the ajq'ijab', keep it alive to this day.

Questions

What is my Mayan zodiac sign?

It is the nawal of the day you were born. Type your date of birth in the form on this page: in seconds you see your nawal, your tone and your Maya Cross, free.

Is it the Mayan horoscope?

It is what many people call the Mayan horoscope, but with no daily forecast and no sun sign: it is the name of the day you were born in the 260-day count, and what the tradition says about it.

Is it really free?

Your nawal, your tone and your Maya Cross are free and appear right away. The Complete Maya Chart, the full reading of your date, is paid, and only if you want it.

Do I need my time of birth?

No. The Tzolk'in counts days: only the date goes into the count.

What about the Dreamspell?

It is another count, created in 1990, which gives a different result. Mayanastro uses the traditional count and shows your Dreamspell Kin as a reference.

Where does the count come from?

From the sacred calendar of the Maya, which is still alive in the Guatemalan highlands. The count follows the GMT 584283 correlation, the same one as the living count.
